Gas Engine Simulation and Performance Evaluation Tool-A GUI Package
Abstract
In light of the limited access to exhaustively instrumented engine infrastructure for investigating the feasibility of use of non-regular fuels, a well validated numerical simulation tool has been developed with full functionality to simulate the performance of a spark ignited engine. Special care has been taken to address some features particular to non-regular fuels. The key features of the model include ability to predict end gas auto-ignition, the Methane / Octane number of a fuel, and the turbocharger optimization module. Beyond the technical aspects, the other key feature is the availability of the non-commercial web version of the module. It is expected that the tool acts as the preliminary analysis kit to evaluate the feasibility of considering detailed investigation for any particular fuel.
