Rapid Delignification of Lignocellulosic Residues

G. Weissbach, M. Nelles

Abstract

With the investigations presented here, the effectiveness of a microwave-assisted organosolv pretreatment could be shown. These focused on the pretreatment of wheat and rice straw as relevant substrates for a subsequent enzymatic reaction. The addition of delignifying additives proved to be particularly effective to reduce the lignin content.Enzymatic availability could be increased also noticeable.A major advantage of this method approach can be seen especially in the separate product streams and a drastic reduction of the digestion times.Continuously working pretreatment process would therefore also be conceivable.
